A park bench within Wingham's Central Park, bearing a plaque with a dedication to all those who have served. The memorial was donated by the Hastings Legacy Club in 1999, to mark the International Year of the Older Person.
Legacy is an Australian non-profit organisation formed by ex-servicemen in 1923 to care for the dependents of Australian servicemen and women. In time, it has cared for dependents of First and Second World War veterans, as well as those of the other conflicts in which Australians have served. Volunteer members are called 'Legatees' because of the care offered to the various families. Legacy Branches were formed throughout the various states. The Hastings Legacy Branch was formed, and later became the Port Macquarie Hastings Branch.
