A triangular stone pillar, engraved on two of the vertical sides. The top of the pillar is sloped and engraved. At the front of the base is the insignia of The National Service and Combined Forces Association of Australia Inc. The memorial faces Stockton Street.

Between 1951 and 1972 Nelson Bay and District men were conscripted into the Australian Navy, Army and Airforce. These men served their country well in times of war and peace. Australia as a Nation is indebted to its National Servicemen and Citizen Soldiers who were the core of the Defence Forces.

Right

Commemorating the men and women of Nelson Bay and district who served this great nation in all arms of the military during times of conflict and peace and have not seen active service during their Defence Force career. Navy - Army - Airforce Military CMF Naval Reserve Army Reserve - Airforce Reserve - Nurses.

Base

Let us remember all who were called by their Nation to serve Australia with pride and dedication. Each one is part of our heritage. We will remember them all.
