Description / Background

This monument is a large freestanding granite slab, with laser-etched lettering, standing on a concrete base. It is a recent addition to the front garden area of the Pallamallawa War Memorial Hall. At the footpath leading to the entrance of the hall, two pillars feature metal silhouette-cutouts in the shape of soldier sentries at ease. Similar pillars with cutouts also stand near the monument.

The memorial was dedicated by Federal Member Mark Coulton MP and Moree Plains Shire Mayor Katrina Humphries in 2015. It was commissioned by the Pallamallawa War Memorial Committee, and was constructed and designed in tandem with Moree Shire Council Building Services and Design.

From the Pallamallawa War Memorial Committee website:

The most significant achievement of the Pallamallawa War Memorial Committee was the fundraising, construction and opening of the visible and external Pallamallawa War Memorial on 25 April 2015. The granite memorial lists the conflicts that people from Pallamallawa have been involved in, including: Boer War, First World War, Second World War and Vietnam.
