St Cuthberts Church Memorial Window, Nareumburn

Description

Stained glass memorial window to 2nd Lieut Oscar White. The glass is contained within a tall lancet window. The umage appears to show the figure of Christ receiving the benediction of an allegorical soldier figure, perhaps St George. The soldier would also appear to refer to Lieut Oscar White, the subject of the memorial window. Lieutenant White was killed when his line was heavily shelled by the Germans. The window is inscribed at its base below a rising sun motif.
