Description / Background

The war memorial consists of a sandstone plinth standing 90cm tall, 60cm wide and 25cm deep, set on a cement foundation nestled in part of the protected natural bushland in the grounds of The Gracewood Aged Care Centre in Kellyville, NSW.

Attached to the front of the memorial is a bronze plaque with a raised gold border and a dedication in raised gold lettering. The dedication is to the memory of all those who have served. There is also a small bronze plaque on the side of the memorial acknowledging the support of the Castle Hill RSL sub-Branch with the project.

Three flagpoles stand behind the memorial. They fly the flags of the Anzac troops (left to right): the Australian Aboriginal flag, the Australian flag, and the New Zealand flag. Image 3 above shows the plinth before the flagpoles were installed.

The memorial was unveiled on Remembrance Day, 11 November 2022. It will be used in Anzac Day and Remembrance Day services.
