This war memorial is a large timber honour roll for the First and Second World Wars. It has an overall rectangular shape, with a decorative three-step pediment at the top. Painted within the pediment is a blue ribbon banner, highlighting the words 'Honour Roll'.
The roll lists 56 veterans, 12 from the First World War and 44 from the Second World War. Five veterans in all are marked with the letter 'K', indicating they were killed. The names are expertly printed in gold on the two panels that make up the body of the board. The panels are edged with grooved timber moulding, a detail which adds visual interest to an otherwise simple design.
The memorial was unveiled by Mrs Nicholson, mother of Second World War veteran Flight Lieutenant Howard Edward King Nicholson who is listed on the roll. It was presented on behalf of her late husband, Captain Howard Sidney Nicholson, to honour the soldiers of the district who had fought and died for their country.
The roll hangs on a wall inside the Croppa Creek Soldiers Memorial Hall. Attached directly below it is a plaque in honour of those who served in the Korean War.
Access to view the roll is restricted to the opening hours of the hall. Commemorative services are held on site every third year. In the other years, they are held at the nearby Crooble War Memorial Hall or Yallaroi Hall.
Note: Research for this listing included information prepared by Mrs Cheryl Timmins, a member of the Croppa Creek Soldiers Memorial Hall Committee. Mrs Timmins has researched each veteran listed on the roll.
