Description / Background

Located within The Domain in Sydney's Royal Botanic Gardens is this sandstone block memorial wall. It is approximately 100 meters long and divides the Cahill Expressway and the Phillip Precinct of The Domain. It runs alongside the pathway between the State Library of NSW and the Art Gallery of NSW, behind the NSW Parliament House.

Attached to the wall is a large transparent plastic plaque, which contains a dedication to those men and women of the Australian Defence Force who have died as a result of their service to Australia. At the bottom of the plaque are the insignias of the Royal Australian Navy, the Australian Army and the Royal Australian Air Force.

The memorial was unveiled by The Hon. Bob Debus on 2 April 2006.
