Description / Background

The memorial is a bronze honour roll panel, displayed in a timber frame. At the top of the centre section of the panel is a small plaque, inscribed with the name of the lodge. Below this is a rising sun motif, overlaid with the word 'ANZAC' and a stylised wreath surrounding the dedication. To the left and right sides are the names of the lodge men who served in the First World War, inscribed on individual brass plaques. The abbreviation for the Manchester Unity Independent Order of Oddfellows (M.U.I.O.O.F.) is included in a decorative banner at the bottom of the panel.

The roll was designed by the Wunderlich Company of Sydney, NSW. It was unveiled by Brother A. Easterbrook, the oldest Oddfellow, at a special meeting on Saturday, 26 November 1921. The secretary of the lodge, E.W. Roberts, had advertised the event in the Tweed Daily shortly before, on 24 November. Following the event, the Daily reported on the unveiling in detail, on 30 November 1921, stating:

The Loyal Uki Lodge is certainly to be congratulated on being the first to recognise the worth and memory of these brave men.

The memorial is located in the Uki Public Hall and access to it is restricted by the opening hours of the hall.

In October 1933, the lodge celebrated the 25th anniversary of its founding. They met in the hall until December 1995.
