St Andrew's Presbyterian Church First and Second World Wars Memorial Window, Gunnedah

This war memorial is a stained glass located inside St Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Gunnedah, NSW. The brightly coloured imagery depicts King David and his followers, positioned within a mountainous landscape. The top and bottom of the window are decorated with golden arches.

The bottom section of the window includes the details of a Bible reading noted as '2 Samuel 24'. However, the reading appears to be 2 Samuel 23 not 24. It states that King David will not drink the water brought to him in his thirst, because of the sacrifice of those who'd placed their lives in jeopardy in attempting to bring it to him.

The window was a gift to the church from Mr and Mrs Malcolm Waugh. It was dedicated in honour of those who fell in the First and Second World Wars during the opening of the church on 27 March 1955. The dedication was performed by the Reverend H.J. Hamilton BA and Minister James Goudie. 

Historical information provided by Minister Lyle Sims states that the foundation stone of the church was laid on 27 July 1954. The official opening was delayed until after the 1955 floods. The official opening was performed by the Governor of NSW, Lieutenant General Sir John Northcott KCMG, KCVO, CB. 

The memorial window is available for viewing when the church is open for services.
