Description / Background

On Monday 20 October 1947, a meeting of the Wilson's Creek-Huonbrook Welcome Home Committee was held in the Wilson's Creek Hall to wind up the affairs of the committee. The Tweed Daily's issue on 31 October 1947 reported the committee had welcomed 35 returned men. Following the wind up, it was planned to use the money at hand to place an honour roll in the Wilson's Creek Hall. The Tweed Daily on 27 April 1948 reported the roll was to be unveiled on the following day at a social held in the hall.

The Northern Star and Tweed Daily on 3 May 1948 described the unveiling of the roll containing the names of 36 men who had served. Mullumbimby Mayor Ald. E. G. Davies performed the unveiling. The newspaper accounts published the names of the mem listed on the roll.

The simply designed timber roll features an art deco-style shape and is now located in the Mullimbimby Ex-Services Club.
