Additional information by Sydney Trains

From the Narrabri Courier, 18 March 1918:

The honour roll was purchased by the Edgeroi community, and unveiled by Rev. Canon Villiers-Reid, as the war turned desperate. It listed 25 local brave lads, of whom nine were wounded and one who paid the ultimate sacrifice.

The memorial was produced by renowned Narrabri momumental stonemason and terrazzo artist M.W. Hardy (1867–1950). Other notable rolls by Hardy are the Narrabri District School 1914-1919 Roll of HonourBreeza War Memorial and Duri First World War Honor Roll. Hardy was a Freemason and his memorials feature a distinctive 'Masonic' style, with the use of white marble and delicate black inlay linework, black and white checked floors, columns supporting architectural pediments, crossed flags, scrolls, banners and military insignia.

In 2007, the roll was moved to a rest stop near Edgeroi Fuel Shop. Following the closure of the shop, the roll was taken into possession by the local council and placed in secure storage. Working with the Edgeroi Community, "Council will be looking at securing the long term future of the Edgeroi Roll of Honour ... to secure a site fitting for this important piece of history" (Narrabri Shire, Edgeroi Roll of Honour, Decisive Council action preserves Edgeroi Roll of Honour, 23 March 2018).
