Description / Background

The memorial is a large brick tower with a bronze clock at the top. It is decorated with large stylised swords and multiple small metal crosses on each side. It has a plaque and granite tablet set within the brick work on the side facing Bridge Street. There is also a bronze wreath above the plaque.

The site was dedicated on Remembrance Day in1956 and unveiled by Group Captain Waddy on 8 November 1959. It was built by Tamworth West Rotary Club as its first major project.

This site was an early location for Anzac Day Services which are now held at the Anzac Park Memorial Gates in Brisbane Street.
