Description / Background

This Lone Pine is located on the western side of the Ashford Central School in Ashford, NSW. A concrete plinth is positioned at the base of the tree; however, the original plaque attached to it was lost at the time of registering the tree. The current plaque indicates that the tree was planted in 1919 by E Edmonds and A Beveridge who were local residents. The tree was planted in memory of the fallen in the First World War.

Access to the memorial is restricted as it is within school grounds. Also on site is the Ashford Central School Memorial Wall

Information about the significance of the Lone Pine can be found on the Australian War Memorial website.
